Missions Tour de Goliad Bicycle Ride
A special thanks to all those who helped with the
Missions Tour this October:
We would like to thank the many volunteers, sponsors, door prize and
“goody” bag stuffer donors for another successful year. Many volunteers came
and went during the week and did not sign our sign-in sheets and we thank them
as well. Thank you to: Goliad County 4-H
Clubs: ASK’M, Stampede, Gold Star, Weesatche, Schroeder & Lakewood Clubs. The 4-H kids and their families who bake
cookies, prepare their SAG Stop location, and then pass food and drinks to the
bicycle riders have become an established tradition of our ride and once again
helped to make the Ride a success.
Several of the SAG stop volunteers put in many hours as they patiently
waited for the last riders to clear their stop. We also want to thank those
landowners who graciously allowed us to set up on/near their property. SAG vehicle drivers were: Cory Billo, Mona
Foust and Stacey Weaver. These folks
keep the riders safe. The cyclists always comment on the friendly
people at our SAG stops and love the homemade cookies. Special thanks to Tracy Berger at the Ag
Extension Office for her coordination of the SAG volunteers. We thank American Bank for managing the final
SAG stop – which runs the longest of the day from ride start to ride
finish. We thank the Gypsy Motorcycle
Club International Goliad Chapter for distributing door prizes and managing
sales of rider shirts, the San Antonio River Authority (SARA) for the Saturday
Night Movie at the Branch Park, lunch and drinks for the riders, providing
volunteers for registration, Frisbees to play with and hosting the Lesti Huff
Band in the amphitheater letting all the riders know they were back and their
day was only getting more enjoyable. A huge thank you to the Victoria Amateur
Radio Club for manning the route before and during the ride keeping tabs on all
the riders and their locations.
We also want to thank Judge Pat Calhoun, Harold
Gleinser, Carrol Norrell and Sheriff Kirby Brumby for their contributions at
the Opening Ceremony. Also thanks to those
who make the ride happen: Jimmy Schulze, Ernest Alaniz, Robin Alaniz, Mary
Ashton, Rodney Baker, Harvey Babb, John Barnhill, Tracy Berger, Cory Billo, Cristy Billo,
Mackenzie Billo, Sheriff Brumby, Susan Burrows, Judge Pat Calhoun, Angela
Camarillo, City of Goliad, County of Goliad, Matthew Driffill, Neida Garcia,
Kayla Gaskar, Gary Gray, Harold Gleinser, Stephanie Harvey, Michael Martinez, Linda
Rojas-Rodriguez, Victoria Amature Radio Club, Victoria Photography Club, Janie
Von Dohlen, Stacey Weaver, and Brian Yanta.
Many in-kind donations and gifts were made by the following: American Bank, Aztec Ford, Bill’s Bikes, Culligan
of Victoria, H-E-B, Goliad Pet Adoption, Go Texan, Larabar, The Ivy Vine,
PorkBeInspired.com, Whataburger, Tour de Honey, SIG/Goliad Insurance Company,
Goliad National Bank, Devereux Gardens, Active Rewards and the Texas Beef
Special thanks to Stacey Weaver, this year’s T-shirt
designer. Her design was given out
during the ride to over 600 people.
